Amazon.co.uk Review Conversations with God started when the author in the midst of a frustrating low-point in his life wrote a letter to God and was replied to. The book takes the format of the author questioning and God answering him. The theme that runs continually through the book is to remember our divine origins. Walsch's book makes God accessible in an almost secular way, different to our Bible-based one. An immediate, humorous, "guy next door kinda God" reminding us of basic truths. The book is written for Westerners and is practical and daily-life oriented, with answers on sexuality, money, relationships and health amongst many others. Conversations with God has the potential to reprogramme you to see the divine and spirituality in a totally new light. The question to be asked is "is this really God?" and indeed Walsch asks it and is replied: "What difference does it make? Even if everything I've said is 'wrong', can you think of a better way to live?" "No" replies Walsch and if you are searching for spiritual answers and have not found your traditional distant God helpful, then this book could be for you. --Peter Lloyd

Astounding! October 24, 2008 This is a book you should read, whether or not you have any religious beliefs. Yes, it's comical to think that the author would be having a 'conversation with God', and I was sceptical too, when I was first introduced to the book. However, even if you don't believe in a 'God' of any kind, or believe that Neale Donald Walsch has had a conversation with such a God, what the book says makes a lot of sense anyway.
And those of us who were brought up to believe in a vengeful God who judges and condems us, will find it a relief to realise that this simply isn't the case.
I was sceptical - now I'm convinced!
Brilliant! July 2, 2008 Its a pity the highest rating one can give a book on Amazon is 5 stars, I would have given this book more. Written in simple language, easy to read, very engaging, though-provoking and insightful. Its certainly given me a new perception of life and the the world...I've gone and bought books 2 and 3 and cant wait to read them too!
Threatening? May 13, 2008 This book has been inspiring for me in many ways. The first of which is that I do have the answers to my life... I just have to look, hear, listen.. When you actually think about it, this book did not really tell me anything I did not know.. It did not reveal any Grand Truths, or simple rules on how to live life. It invokes reflection, introspection, and invites you to your own truth, whatever that may be. I find it interesting, and not surprising at all, that most of those with negative comments are Christians!!! Why feel so threatened?
Insightful Masterpiece... A MUST READ April 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great questions with expansive answers! This is a life changer, but the continued books 2 & 3 are only interesting at some parts & repetitions on the other! God has mentioned he's not the all Universal God or that you have to follow GODS advice, but that is insignificant, for IT preaches Wisdom that OBVIOUSLYWILL MAKE YOUR LIFE GRANDER,HAPPIER & MORE MEANINGFUL
A MUST READ LOVE
OPens the mind to make sense of the truth April 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For years I have read the bible and studied it at college too. As you know there are many things that do not make sense in the bible and it is amazing how different the new testament is with the old.
It is amazing how people are so closed minded when it comes to religon and the bible, and it is scary and dangerous to think people really believe the bible is word of God.
If you believe that God does not need to write a book and God has never needed to make one person the chosen person to speak to us - which can leave things open to abuse - then you can make your mind up if neale is talking to God or not. If he is, then this is the kind of God I believe that created the world and us and the insights give clarification on so many untruths and distorted stories from the bible. Stories being the word.
People forget the mentality and knowledge of the people in the old testament and without understanding that and the power of religon - many of the stories will be taken literally.
This book started my journey and I went on the read all 3 books and then the others like relevations - which really go into the mind of religons and look at them in such depth - you will will wonder why you could not see those things for yourself.
It is important to remember that religons over the years have murdered, killed, raped, tortured, slaughtered villages, children and towns in the name of religon. the power of religon and the people who run it is scary and the influence they have is amazing and startling. With that much power there is always lots of corruption and some people will do anything to stop the truth from being revealed that could affect their power, position and wealth.
all this can be seen the how Jesus was put on the cross to die. How did he view the church leaders? What did he say? why did he have to talk in stories? this is the only the first step - but there are many authors who say the same things as these books in a different way. It is not a easy book to read at first as it takes a lot of thinking and understanding - as you are looking and challenging all that you have learnt and been brought up with. that is always difficult and changing one's point of view is always difficult, especially when you have believed certain things for such along time and you feel they have been your crutch and now you are questioning them. I think this may be the reason the people who have given the book such a low rating have. You have to be ready for this book. I would not say over 17 years ago I was either, especially if you already involved heavily in a church at the time.
