A matter of your soul's destination March 26, 2008 My paradigm has shifted. Dead Heat directly moved it. I had to, for the first time in my life, realize that I am a child of God first and an American second. Though I love my country and would fight for its existence, Joel has helped me realize that nothing is more important than knowing where your soul will rest. Countries, ideologies, money, jobs, and positions, will fade. What's left when they do?
Even for the non-Christian and non-believer this thriller challenges thought and forces you to face the facts. Where are we heading as a nation, as a world? What dose the bible say about America in the end times? Joel hits these questions head on in a gripping tale that you will not be able to put down. Trust me. 1 book > 22 hours. For me that's incredible.
Conflicted! March 26, 2008 19 out of 26 found this review helpful
I am not sure what it is I want to say about this book.
It starts out white hot with the most chilling description of a nuclear attack on the US that I have ever read. As we scramble to determine who did it and how to respond to it, the characters of Jon Bennett and his wife Erin reappear to continue the interweaving of Biblical prophesy and today's reality. The book is an absolute page turner right to the end, but it was the ending that left me feeling unfulfilled and quizical. I'm not sure I can explain it any better than that.
Rosenberg states in an Author's Note at the beginning of the book, "I pray to God the novel that you hold in your hands never comes true." I'll join him in that prayer.
If you have enjoyed the previous books in this series, the other reviews here would suggest you will this one also. That is what makes me so conflicted about my reaction which is probably exactly what the author intended.

Dead Heat is dead on! March 25, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I couldn't wait for this book to come out, and read it cover to cover as soon as it arrived. Joel Rosenberg has been given a gift for writing, and he uses that gift well.
Buy two copies of this book and give one away. Whoever you give it to, will thank you. In fact - I highly recommend all of Mr. Rosenberg's books.
An excellent novel March 25, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
For those just wanting an opinion, I will tell you that this was an amazing novel. I got it on a Friday night and had it finished by Monday. It will keep you turning pages. It scared me to tears at some parts, because of how realistic this novel is. For how cheap amazon is selling it too, buy this book. 5/5
