2 out of 5 stars Another 'open season' slag on Christians what else is new?   November 30, 2008

Just picked this copy up @ a local dealer actually( not Amazon) nonetheless I always find it somewhat bemusing @ how petulantly & dogmatic people can continue to reveal their Ignorance & be completely unabashed in so doing! I have only just started reading & did a few ' pick throughs ' to get a feel for its general attitude. About what I expected. Uninformed opinions by an undisciplined younger generation who know everything about everything & are (in most of their own eyes) exceedingly wonderful & superior in intellect & thought & mores over their elder predecssor boomer parent generation( of whom I am a member.Just 2 quick quotes with my response if you please: pg 124:"A new generation thinks of Christianity as devoid of spiritual vibrancy, parochial ,small minded, and ignorant.:"----talk about the pot calling the kettle black! I am also very much mystified & amazed @ how people ( of any age group, really) are so quick to blame others for whats wrong in the world--'don't blame me, its you old 'fuddy-duddies' casing all the wars & famines & intolerance etc, etc etc. Judging by some of the reported Surveyed Opinion Answers to ??Pre-selected questions I really wonder WHO IS IN FACT the REAL Intolerant surrounding some of the Issues listed in this book? GOD holds His People & children to a Higher Standard that is True , However the Sin scarred people doing all the smoke- blowing cannot claim to be HIM & I do not accept nor Recieve their self -righteous & hypocritical Judgements against people they accuse of these very same faults!None of us are perfect so why do so many of us ( myself included) insist on besmurching, cat calling & " trolling" as I understand this new lingo? IT is NOT the authors I necessarily have the biggest problem with although the way they frame their questions & 'gathered' data I wonder about their motives & agendas. Busters & Mosaics (as the authors prefer to call this new & 'wiser-younger' generation) who have by enlarge never had to fight a war fight for survival or deal with A Lifetime of Stress dealing with everything from fatal illnesses to losses in Romantic Circles or Abrupt Career Endings are in my estimation rather ill-equipped to be making rational 'opinions' about a group or groups of people they less about than they would have me & you to believe. This book speaks of christians as living in a sheltered & unreal world (which in a lot of ways is true--but is also true of most if not everyone who walks this globe)....."a sheltered faith seems out of touch with the intense challenges young people confront." In most situations that is accurate but if you would take the blinders off & read the morning Papers or listen to the average newscast it wouldn't be hard to see a world that is coming apart at the seams & is in need of Radical Change & Help. It would seem to me that wisdom would teach the prudent necessity & desirability to look for solutions. Christians are different only in the fact that they/we look to the Higher Power of GOD through CHRIST to VERY SOON put an end to hostilities & suffering & Usher in His Kingdom with Peace & Love & Righteousness. It will be interesting (if provocative) to read the rest of this Survey of 'Important' data.

5 out of 5 stars Sobering but practical   April 30, 2008

unChristian was a sobering look at how we are perceived by those who see us from the outside in. The key to this little book is that it not only points out the problems people observe, but it offers solutions from leading pastors and thinkers so that we can put our faith to work and change this trend!
