Description An exploration of the profound Jewish atmosphere in which Jesus grew up and carried out his ministry In this two-part documentary investigation, we explore the intriguing heritage of biblical Israel and the Jewish origins of the Christian faith. This video uncovers some wonderful truths about the character, background and personality of Jesus which have been overlooked by much of the church. Your spiritual understanding and insight into the Bible and the world in which Jesus lived and ministered will be enriched and enlarged. Journalist Peter Darg and film-producer Marc Villiger take you on a fascinating journey of discovery to Israel. In part one, discover the intense Jewish religious atmosphere in which Jesus grew up and began his Messianic mission. In part two, gain new insights into the message Jesus proclaimed to his own people, the Jews, that would soon transform the entire world. Includes French and German language tracks.

Connecting the Dots of Two World Religions September 9, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Here is a movie that is much like a lovely tapestry. There are many themes that are woven together. These themes include: modern Israel, Israel at the time of Jesus plus the key New and Old Testament verses.
This is a lively movie that moves along quickly as the lifetime of Jesus unfolds. Short clips with great videography are make alive the words of the narrator. The narration is available in English, French and German.
There are scenes of the places that Jesus would have known. It is like a travelogue with historic commentary along the way.
There are sections about the Jewish festivals of with biblical background and modern scenes to illustrate. These include Feast of Booths, Shabbat, Hanukkah and Passover.
This movie is highly recommended for all. Here is a simple presentation of how Christianity considers that it came from Judaism. This movie clearly explains and illustrates the linkages.
We are living in an increasingly pluralistic and more global society. That is thrusting people from different backgrounds together like never before. That means that it is wise to understand some of the basics of the major world religions. Such understanding can lead to more peace and better understanding. So here is a very good introduction and overview of key parts of Christianity to both those that grew up with it and those that never encountered it before.
It could take many hours to read several books that cover this much material. Yet here it is in an informative and interesting way. Go ahead and enjoy this excellent movie.
Very interesting - Good production value November 26, 2005 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
This DVD, as advertised, explores the Jewish roots of Jesus. I found the DVD very interesting - essentially a semi-chronological exploration of the places, people, and traditions that would likely have been experienced by Jesus.
The DVD features footage from various locations featured in the Gospels, such as Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Jerusalem, as well as festivals such as passover, with explanations of their relevance. If you are interested in the Jewish roots of Jesus, I would recommend watching this DVD.
