Product Description In Drawing Near, John Bevere invites readers to explore a life of intimacy with God. Emphasizing the need for obedience, he urges us to practice-just as we would practice anything we hope to improve-our communication with the Holy Spirit. Understanding that prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue, Bevere encourages us to listen at the Father's feet. Study questions in each chapter offer opportunity for reflection, and a "How to draw near to God" section offers practical steps toward developing true intimacy with Him.

Passion for God July 12, 2008 This book is an encouragement to anyone who wants to get closer to God or have more of Him in their life.
It is well written and the author has some awesome revelation about the matter of drawing near to the Lord.
Are you hungry for God? This would be a good buy and read.
First three quarters of the book is five star February 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
John's strong stance on God's Word comes across with power, love and conviction. He uses good Biblical sense and many scriptures to teach us how we can come to know Christ in a deeper and more meaningful way, not only to strengthen our walk but so that it can spread to others through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This book is not the church-as-usual kind of stuff. It's for the one who wants to follow Jesus 24/7 and not just on Sunday. I learned a lot, was challenged and walked away a better man. Why the 4 stars? Because too much of last quarter of the book dealt with speaking in tongues (which by the way I firmly believe in and practice). Of course the book should have talked about it but it went way too long and a bit overboard. While I do believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is required for an intimate relationship with God I do not believe it is necessary to speak in tongues to draw close to God however John seems to think it is. Sure it helps but it isn't the magic bullet. With this said I still highly recommend this book and think it would be great for a Bible study or just your personal growth. As always, pray and let the Holy Spirit teach you in all things.
James 4:8-9 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
1 Star = I've been robbed! 2 Stars = Why'd I finish it? 3 Stars = Good 4 Stars = Excellent 5 Stars = Life changing
This book is a keeper December 4, 2007 I gained so much new understanding from this book. Deeper meanings of scriptures came alive and will now change my life. I recognized and realized a misunderstanding of a scripture that is hindering my faith and confidence in drawing near God. Great expectations are in my heart that I can boldly go before the throne and have a more intimate relationship now, right away, immediately. The information about the gift of tongues is the most helpful I've read or heard, and the teaching brought me to repentance that I have been nonchalant about this amazing gift. Also helpful are the reminders to believers to stay in the now with God. The key is to know what is on the heart of God at the moment (pg 228). On my bookshelf I have less than five books that have really ministered to me spiritually. This book is one of them.
One of the Best Books I've ever read in my life...bar none. November 16, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think my title sums it up for me. If you are thinking of reading this book, buy two. One will be for you and the other for someone you love. It has been a great blessing to me.
THE FACTS OF LIFE November 10, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
John Bevere invites us to draw near to God in the simplest of ways though not simple for everyone. Christian brethren always hunger and thirst for that closeness and sweetness and peace and comfort which Christ brings to our lives when we accept him. This is a book that cannot be read in a hurry. It is made to savor and draws out all the points that brings us closer to God even when we are unaware. Mr Bevere dwells on our pursuit for God , showing our hunger for God, and our longing for His presence Also, how to have intimacy with the Holy Spirit and so much more. Be blessed by this book. An excellent Christmas present or for any birthday. This book comes highly recommended, Reviewed by Heather Marshall Negahdar (Sugar-Cane 10/11/07)
