Before you read this book... November 15, 2007 As with all books from Jerry Bridges, this book is also firmly rooted in the scriptures. Bridges masterfully confronts questions about God's goodness, His sovereignty, His wisdom, and our responsibility. But I want you to know that this book is derived from his earlier classic "Trusting God: Even When Life Hurts" (ISBN-10: 0891096175) which contains all the chapters in this book plus some more wonderful chapters adding up about 60 pages. So, if you are interested in studying this topic in more detail, I suggest you read the earlier book.
Believing In God September 28, 2007 Bridges directs us to Scripture to teach us of the enduring goodness of God, yet His immutable counsel is one of Sovereignty.
So the Creator has the power to be God, and we submit to that rulership gladly. God is many times robbed of this attribute, by deists who claim that there is a all-powerful 'being', yet that he is either impotent or unwilling to intervene.
This book squarely engages these fallacies and makes us aware of the REAL God, whose immanence is always to be seen in general and special revelation.
'The disciples believed in the sovereignty of God. But God's sovereignty to them was a reason and an encouragement to pray. They acknowledged God's sovereign purpose in events past (eg Crucifixion), but they did not presume to know the divine decree about future events. They only knew Christ had commanded them to wait in Jerusalem.' pg 69
A wonderful and God-honoring effort by a wise scholar.
Another Wonderful Work From Jerry Bridges May 29, 2007 Dr. Bridges has once again ably addressed a needful topic on the soverignty of God. I highly recommend this book to anyone!

I bought this book for our adult Sunday School class. We discussed a chapter a week. The name of our class is the Searchers. We have both liberal and conservative Christians, so there are usually some lively discussions. This was a very conservative book with no really new ideas. We seemed to be having the same discussions every week.
Oldie but goodie October 6, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this book used around $5, and inspite being 5+ years old, it's very good. I think it's much better than the official Blender book. You get a big overview right off the bat, everything fom keystrokes, to doing practical modeling right away, and even writing Python scripts. It's not a reference book, but the appendix's are worth keeping as cheetsheets.
The CD-ROM has some nice animations. I also own Lightwave [9] and its still unstable, so I switched now to Blender. I been trying this stuff for 8 month and finally getting the hang of Blender. For months I wished they would have a straight forward UI, like C4D, or Cheetah3D or Wings or AC3D. But finally, I don't wish that anymore, because it just clicked for me, and I'm finding out there is a method to the madness. Once you understand the UI and start doing simple manipulations, it grows on you.
Like everyone says "Don't Give Up On Blender" and now I'm saying that too because I like it a lot. This books covers Blender 1.8 but much is still the same for 2.42a. If there was a newer updated book by this author I would buy it too.
