Rather than using the dialog format, where Walsch shares personal conversations he has with God, he chose to write through the narrative voice of God--as if God were speaking directly to the reader. This format can feel a bit jarring, as if this was an attempt at channeling rather than Walsch's usual humble style of dialogue. I would read the prior boks Books 1,2,3, T.God Uncommon dialogue on all other topics before reading this one. It truly is commining with God if you are ready for its intensity.

If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or you
have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the
information below and pass it along to others. Schools are distributing this
book to children through the Scholastic Book Club.
The name of the book is Conversations with God.. James Dobson talked about
this book twice this week. It is devastating. Parents, churches and
Christian schools need to be aware of it. Please pass this information on to
church/e-mail addressees, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins,
friends.
Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV, in
movie theaters, on the internet, and the music they listen to, but also be
alert regarding the books they read.
Two particular books are, Conversations with God and Conversations with God
for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their
titles alone. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list
for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, 'Don't judge a
book by its cover or title.'
The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the
'voice of God'. However, the 'answers' that he gives are not Bible-based and
go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase),
when a girl asks the question 'Why am I a lesbian?' His answer is that she
was 'born that way' because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed,
with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and 'celebrate' her
differences.
Another girls poses the question 'I am living with my boyfriend. My parents
say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?'
His reply is, 'Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done
nothing wrong.'
Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply 'I do not
forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing
as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do
not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong,
because the rule is ''judge not lest ye be judged.'
Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some
instances quote (in error) the Word of God.
And the list goes on. These books (and others like it) are being sold to
schoolchildren through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware
of what is being fed to our children.
Our children are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant
about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to
worldly mediums, because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring
lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually
hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.
Pass this on to every Believer you know. God bless! And, if you are in
doubt, check out the books yourself.

I like this book as a "stand alone" book in the Conversation with God series. The series seems to follow a path, one book rolling into the next with a little bit of back tracking and repeating for clarification and awareness. This "conversation" is different, much different. This book deals with the human mind, and our perceptions of the world, and who and what we and God are in its role. There are Ten Illusions; Need, Failure, Disunity, Insufficiency, Requirement, Judgment, Condemnation, Conditionality, Superiority, and Ignorance. You don't have to be a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, or any other faith or spiritual practitioner to appreciate the words found in this book. It is universal. Forget that its claimed authorship is "God" in dialogue with Neale Donald Walsh. Get past this and hear what the words say. Read a paragraph, a page, a chapter and pull out your highlighter and note those passages and words that make a mark with you and your perception of the way things are in your life. Take the time to think and rationalize what is being spoken and how it applies to you, your family members, your co-workers, the country you live in, or the world we ALL live in. This book has no boundaries based in religious or political differences because it speaks of unity, of oneness--to which we ALL are. Wake up! Recognize the illusions that are impressed upon you, upon us all, and begin to see what the reality truly is. See what "they" don't want you to know. Once you read the Ten Illusions of Part I, it is followed by Part II, Mastering the Illusions. These chapters include; Teaching Your Children Well, Seeing the Illusions as Illusions, Understanding the Purpose of the Illusions, Meditating on the Illusions, Using the Illusions, and Re-creating Your Reality. Part III is Meeting the Creator Within; The Control of Your Body, Taking Control of Your Emotions, Cultivating Willingness, The Message of the Creator, and Seizing Your Moment of Grace. The book is 219 pages plus the index. In my opinion, there is nothing denominational about this book, spiritual "yes", denominational "no". If you don't mind being as a "sheep" and being led about or following the herd, then no need for you to read this because you are probably perfectly happy with your life and as they say, "ignorance is bliss." On the other hand, if you have an intuition that "something ain't right with the world", or you have issues with having enough, being unsatisfied with life, beat yourself up or allow other to beat you up because of your failures, putting conditions on certain things in your life, or finding yourself being too judgmental, then there is a reason for you to read this book. The masses are always ruled by a small minority------this is how they do it and set the ball in motion and keep it rolling without you ever knowing it. Its time to take control of the "God" given life you were to live for yourself, and not everyone else. You may not be able to change the world, but maybe you can change the way for your children who may change the world. Can we afford to keep going the way we are? Is it working for us ALL? Shouldn't it? I put this book as a companion book with "Awareness" and "The Four Agreements" which I have reviewed. "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"...or so they want you to think.

This is yet another profound read from Neale Donald Walsch, expanding upon the information presented in his first three "Conversations With God" books. The first book dealt with ideas that related to the reader as an individual. The second book pertained to the individual in relationship to, and as a part of, others. The third explored the individual in relationship to, and as a part of, the universe.
In this fourth very powerful book the concept is expanded to the ultimate, in which the author presents the idea that we are not only the result of divine creation but also the source of it.
The manner in which the ten illusions are discussed leads the reader logically through a landscape of metaphysical projection to a reasonable conclusion that we are all, in fact, divine beings with absolute creative control over our lives, whether we realize it every moment or not.
This book encapsulates the epitome of complete self-empowerment. For those who are unhappy with their lives, it may be seen as a challenge to their sense of personal integrity. Yet from my own experience, personal growth has never come without some kind of challenge that required a change in thinking.
This is expressed very clearly in a discussion about the meaning of life in the second portion of the book. His point that the meaning of life exists only as the meaning we give it rings loud and clear throughout the book. "Communion With God" is a solid reminder that only a change in thinking is required to change our experience of anything.
It is difficult to do justice for this book, as well as the previous books in this series. For those who like to explore the workings of consciousness, as well as the nature of spirituality, this book provides plenty of inspiration.
Another book that draws the reader into a profound and experiential shift in consciousness is High Way from Hell: Using Emotion to Fan the Fire of Enlightment.
