Product Description
Best-selling men’s ministry author Robert Lewis knows what you’re thinking: What’s a man doing writing a book about women? The answer is: because women strongly encouraged him to do so! Per their request, having seen so many positive changes in the men in their lives, The New Eve is an equally stirring counterpart to Robert’s teachings on authentic biblical manhood, powerfully defining Christian womanhood in the context of the modern world. He says, “Many women lack a clear, compelling, biblical vision for what it means to be a Christian woman living in the twenty-first century. They are stuck with images mired in 1950s terminology or given license to indiscriminately pursue a modern life that overlooks divine directives, bringing confusion and regret.” In essence, The New Eve sets forth and expounds upon five “Bold Moves” for today’s discerning woman: Live from the Inside Out; Adopt a Biblical Definition of Womanhood; Embrace a Big-Picture Perspective on Life; Live with the End in Mind; Use Wisdom with a Man. Endorsements “I never thought a book written by a man could give me such an eye-opening picture of who I should be as a woman.” —Shaunti Feldhahn, bestselling author of For Women Only “Women today have unprecedented opportunities and possibilities before them, but this great new freedom also brings a new dilemma: how to make the best choices for their own good and that of their families. In The New Eve, Robert Lewis gives women of all ages a picture of what God intended for us from the beginning and a clear vision for how we make choices that liberate us to live with purposeful direction. No matter your stage in life, all women can benefit from his coaching. I highly recommend it.” ??
— Barbara Rainey, co-founder of FamilyLife
“Robert Lewis sounds a much-needed message as he calls women to walk in the feminine freedom and fullness that result from embracing our core biblical callings. The New Eve dispels the current cultural fog regarding what it means to be a woman, by looking to God's design as revealed in the Scripture, for wisdom, insight, and direction." — Nancy Leigh DeMoss, author and host of Revive Our Hearts radio

A fresh look at an old problem August 6, 2008 The New Eve was incredibly easy to read and would be a good book for a discussion group of women. While it provides a basic framework for the life of a godly woman generally, the author leaves it up to the woman individually to decide for herself. He does not prescribe that one should be married or single, have kids or not, work or not, but describes the general phases of womanhood and warns of the things one might face if one skips phases or tries to combine phases.
This is not a book that deals in special situations, but in general concepts and principles. It has perhaps the best interpretation I've ever read of what transpired in the Garden of Eden and then follows that interpretation by outlining how the Garden and its consequences affect us today.
This is not deep theology or dogma - it can be read and understood by any woman in any circumstance. It certainly should not be a substitute for the Bible. It is a general overview of womanhood today and some traps into which we women tend to fall. I highly recommend it.
Dangerous Advice August 1, 2008 The book reads like a fairy tale that is seemingly unaware of hard financial choices families must make. He seems to be against woman who are successful and intelligent and chose not to stay home and raise children. I am a Christian and resent how the writer of this book has used non-Christians as the bad examples and Christians, who share his belief system, as the good examples. He also used the content of famous women's biographies, naming them by name, and attacked what he considered were bad choices they had made. He based it mainly on his value system and a few Scriptures he quoted from the Old Testament. He often used himself, his wife, and his marriage as good examples. This is what I consider self-righteousness at it's very worse. There is some good advice in the book, but I wonder if the morsels I gained were worth the read.
Wonderful biblical guide for today's women July 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The New Eve gives an encouraging and progressive guide for today's woman. I have used it in my personal life and in discussions with women of all ages. As a single girl reaching 30, some of the truths hit at the core of who I am and who I desire to be. This book will be used as a blue print for my life. I wish to thank Dr. Lewis for his insights and wisdom!
An Excellent, Encouraging Book July 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is amazing, uplifting, and full of scriptural truth. I agree that many statments Lewis makes are hard for me to swallow (ex. is the core callings) - but I truly believe that he is speaking some hard truths to us. I love how the book celebrates women and all they have the potential to be and do. Really helpful for me; content is amazing and the layout and writing sytle are easy to follow and full of practical, modern examples. Worth Buying for sure!
Incredibly encouraging! July 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have read the entire book and then re-read several sections as needed for reference. As a 31-year old female, I found the insights Dr. Lewis shared to be incredibly encouraging and life-breathing. He provides some very simple, straight-forward insights into the role of women in the world today, and although some of them are hard truths to read, it was what I needed to hear. I have given copies of this book to several of my friends who are in the same season of life as me, and they have also found the truths shared in this book to be encouraging, challenging and worth their time to think about. I highly recommend buying and reading this book to anyone female who is looking to choose God's best for their lives.
