Product Description
Willow Madison and her friends Copper and Audrey taught school in neighboring Texas towns until the Yankees rode in and burned them out. In the midst of fear and chaos, survivors banded together to fight for what remained of their homes. Then word reached the people that the terrible war was over. Now penniless but still hopeful, Willow vows she will take care of her friends, and her ailing uncle, in Thunder Ridge, Texas, even if it means having to marry wealthy Silas Sterling, a man thirty years her senior. But standing in her way is sawmill owner Tucker Gray, with his enticing eyes and infuriating headstrong manner—the man Willow cannot get out of her head . . . or her heart. Even though her friends beg her not to give up her dream of happiness, Willow is determined to do the right thing for those who are dearest to her. But which path does God want Willow to take: a life of duty and commitment . . . or a life of everlasting love?

A fun story November 24, 2008 I always look forward to reading Copelands books because she never fails to deliver an amusing and entertaining story. This story, true to history, delighted me.
When Willow literally explodes into town, cap hesitantly set for the wealthy (if old) bachelor, she never anticipates her heart will catch fire for another man (and I'm not spoiling anything with this...it's not a mystery but a predictable romance!). And while the plot is predictable and the storyline well-used, this book is a fun read with many elements all its own.
One thing that sets this book apart from so many with similar plotlines is that the wealthy man, her "intended" of sorts, is a wonderful person. Not some mean villain with plans to take over the country. Not some selfish oaf who womanizes and abuses-- a good and decent man who is looking for companionship. It makes it easy to see why Willow would have such a difficult time making her decision.
Tucker, of course, is dreamy. They have passion, whether for or against each other, it doesn't matter. The chemistry is hilarious.
And if I just might add my own little note: I absolutely LOVED the scene in the church with the music practice-- I don't know if it was super funny or the fact that it was 4:30am, but I could not stop laughing. THanks for that, Lori!!
Fiesty Fun October 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Determined to take care of her aging uncle and to offer stability for her friends after the Civil War, Willow Madison sets out to Thunder Ridge to be the new school marm but mostly to catch the fancy of the wealthy and much older Silas Sterling.
But what she catches is the wrath of the ruggedly handsome Tucker Gray for careening into the newly rebuilt saw mill, catching it on fire.
To add fuel to the fire, (sorry, I couldn't resist) Tucker couldn't abide any woman willing to marry for money instead of love.
I laughed at the verbal sparring between Willow and Tucker. Both were quick-witted and never lost for words. The chemistry between the equally stubborn characters rivaled the thunder that constantly rumbled overhead. And what happened in that creek just was downright comical. Willow's never-back-down attitude was put on physical display.
Hi-larious!
Lori Copeland didn't leave just a smile on my face after reading Twice Loved; I was reminded that God will carry our burdens if we lean and trust on him. Great reminder for our present economic situation.
A nice light read! October 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I enjoyed Twice Loved because it was so nice to sit back, relax and soak up a good book. I love books that have a thick, intense plot, leaving you exhausted by the time you've finished the last page. But I also need and greatly appreciate something light and not so draining. Twice Loved is an easy read with fun and entertaining characters. Willow makes quite an entrance into her new little town, and therefore quite an impression on the other townsfolk. Especially certain menfolk.
Twice Loved deals with questions many people encounter when it comes to starting new romantic relationships. Do I follow my head? Or do I follow my heart? Willow is a strong-willed and very determined young lady. Which one will she follow?
enjoyable October 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was a cute summer read. Sure I knew who Willow would end up with from the beginning but it was enjoyable to read how she got there anyway! I finished this book in a couple hours- while being interrupted by my kids- so it is a pretty easy read. I expect there to be sequels involving Willow's two friends and I intend to read them when they come out.
Avon Inspire delivers another winner August 25, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Lori Copeland's book are always enjoyable so I was looking forward to reading her newest historical fiction addition. The premise of women having to fight in the Civil War was quite interesting. They did it out of necessity and no one looks down on them for fighting for survival. It gives a stark contrast to the wealthy women back east who have been enjoying a life of luxury even during the war. Willow and Tucker get off to a bad start right from the beginning and the whole novel shows their rocky relationship. It's interesting to see their chemistry evolve throughout the whole novel. Equally interesting is Willow's relationship with the man she is supposed to marry and the difference in how she treats him vs Tucker.
While I enjoyed this book very much, there were several points I found not to my liking. One, the reason of why the kerosene was in Willow's possession is never fully explained or to the very least she doesn't seem to realize that this was the cause for the fire. Second, Willow would act in the very way that I hate seeing females act in romances. She finds herself tongue tied around Tucker and cannot stand up for herself along him to bulldoze himself over her. After reading so many books with strong females, I just can't stand to see women who let men run over them and then find themselves falling in love with the same man. Otherwise I did enjoy reading this historical novel very much. I am looking forward to the next book in the series as we hopefully will hear about Willow's friends Copper and Audrey. I also am very impressed with the new Avon Inspire line. Every book that has been published so far has been a winner.
