Product Description
As boys, Robert and Andrew Kissel competed and excelled. As men, they made millions—Robert in the Asian markets and Andrew in real estate. But a darkness was chasing the brothers down. In November 2003, Robert was murdered in his posh Hong Kong apartment. Two-and-a-half years later, Andrew was found stabbed to death in his Greenwich Connecticut mansion. Nancy Kissel was charged with murdering her husband Robert, after serving him a milkshake laced with sedatives and then beating him to death with a blunt object. But what happened to Andrew? Perfect title December 29, 2008 The Kissels were (are?) definitely a a family cursed. The greed portrayed in this novel is astounding. I must ask, however: Why would someone take food or drink from someone they believe to be poisoning them? The part that blows me away so completely is that spouses can behave the way the Kissels did when there are children involved. How very sad for thre young children in one of the families to lose one parent to murder and the other to prison. And Andrew's children must suffer through his death as well. I remember reading about this case in the paper. I thought that there had been some sort of resolution but that is not presented in the book. I tried to research and so far have only found that Andrew's guy friday had been arrested. Books like this make me appreciate that I live a life that is simple and without deceit. The book is well-written even if some events seem to be exerpts from a movie rather than real life. Unfortunately, it is real life. Definitely take some time to read this one.
A FAMILY CURSED: THE KISSELL DYNASTY! December 27, 2008 this book was very good but sad the way people are, i really loved reading it.
author not a great storyteller December 20, 2008 This is an incredible true story about the tradgedy of the Kissel family. However, the author did not do the story justice. The book reads like a file from the crime scene, detectives unit. It is bland, tedious, and boring. The author had no creativity in his writting. At times I felt as though I was reading police files. Too bad because this is one amazing story.
Fascinating Story but a Poor Read! December 15, 2008 While this story is interesting mainly because of the similar fates of two brothers, this book is not very well written. The author elaborates on very minor issues but fails to explain and reveal details on the relevant facts of these murders. I am an avid true crime reader but I found it difficult to finish this book, instead turning to the internet for more information on both of these cases. It is unfortunate because I think a good author could have written a great book about these murders.
Too complicated for my taste September 29, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book goes back and forth too much and is too hard to keep up with the characters and their comings and goings. I wouldn't recommended it but to a person who can keep up with all the things going on at one time. I want a book that's not necessarily easy reading but one that is organized.
